Those old romantics at Cambridge Contemporary Art are at it again this month, with an exhibition devoted to – as Barry White might have put it – lurrrvve.
The gallery will be transformed into a veritable shrine to Eros and the romantic arts, with works (all of course available to buy for the special someone in your life) by some of the gallery’s favourite artists. There are some highly original glass pieces by McNeill Glass, Alex R and Gilles Jones; amorous ceramics and sculptures by Helen Martino and Paul Smith; and some aphrodisiac prints by the likes of Anita Klein, Rob Ryan, Mychael Barratt and Trevor Price, each with their own inimitable take on the grandest theme of them all.
You’ll be thoroughly spoiled for choice at Cambridge Contemporary Art, but sister gallery Cambridge Contemporary Crafts will also be adding to the Valentine’s Day revelry with their own selection of seductive gift ideas – including works by artists new to Cambridge including ceramicists Mary McFadden and Sarah Nicol, as well as jewellery-maker Alan Ardiff. In addition, don’t forget that some beautiful handmade Valentine’s cards, and gift vouchers, are available from both galleries.
Art For The Heart, until Sun 26 February. Cambridge Contemporary Art, 6 Trinity Street, T: 01223 324222
