« Back to Events
Start:
January 25, 2012
End:
January 26, 2012
Venue:
Corn Exchange
Address:
Wheeler Street, United Kingdom

In a year that sees the Corn Exchange celebrate 25 years of being a multi purpose concert venue, rock music is once again very much on the agenda with two gigs to start the New Year off in style. It’s very much a case of old verses new, with one of the genre’s most classic bands taking to the stage 24 hours ahead of one pop punk’s brightest young hopes. Wednesday 25th sees the return of rock legends Thin Lizzy to the venue – despite the death of iconic front man in 1986, the band’s ongoing touring plans featuring original members Scott Gorham, Brian Downey and Darren Wharton, serve as a much welcomed celebration of the band’s timeless songs. Stepping into the large size nines left by Lynott is former Almighty singer Ricky Warwick who’s Irish brogue befits the songs, doing admirable justice to the likes of Don’t Believe A Word, Jailbreak and The Boys Are Back In Town.
The following night sees an appearance from US pop punk heroes All Time Low. The band has, since forming in 2003, risen to the top of the new crop of teenage pop punk party anthem bands. Named after a lyric from a song by elder statesmen of the pop punk scene New Found Glory, they have released four albums to date. The most recent of which, Dirty Work, scored them their first Top 20 chart position helped by singles such as I Feel Like Dancin’, Forget About It and Time Bomb. Having picked up Best Live Act at the 2011 Kerrang! Awards, the band’s live show is a predictable high-energy affair, picking up from the likes of Blink 182, Green Day and the aforementioned New Found Glory. Two gigs, one classic, one new…both rock!
